Leslie Bloom is Extra Topping's delightful host.. here she tells you why she quite simply has the 'best job in the world'.
We met up with Leslie Bloom in the Green Room or 'garden' as most people know it at The Poets Ale and Smokehouse. Leslie is half way through her new ‘favourite drink’ a Coke and Drambuie. 'Do you know', she said, 'I have never had this before but I am working my way through the alphabet, I’m going to try Eggnog and Fanta next.'
Leslie told us what she really loves about Extra Topping.
I am really into 'vibes' and for me the most important thing is that I create a warm, welcoming environment for all. Each new audience member is greeted like a long lost friend and treated like
the royal highness they most definitely are. Join the fun or anonymous sit
back and enjoy the mayhem, the choice is yours.
I can honestly say that all of the acts are; quality, quality, quality! You are guaranteed a wide variety
of hand picked beauties from across the alternative comedy circuit. We've
had many award winners play so far, so take note of who you come to see.
You may have just seen a future star in the making.
As you can see (Leslie wafts her arm around the garden) this little venue in the heart of hove, with its fully equipped little performance space is a real gem. Run by theatre specialists Sweet Venues, it's comfortable and welcoming
and lies only 10 minutes walk from Aldrington and Hove train stations. The pub
serves lovely food and drink too. And they do lovely crisps.
Did you know that Extra Topping was originally an idea from writer, artist and comedian Simon Topping. He decided he wanted a place where brilliant talent could shine, but ohh he was struggling. I don't think he really liked all the limelight associated with being the boss! Anyway, completely coincidently he came along to one of my classes and he must have seen something in me. I mean I don't know what it was but I do know that a black corgi had walked in front of me that morning, obviously a lucky charm. And here i am.. proud as punch to part of it all.
